Ian somerhalder focus on his Charity While we wait for Casting News on Christian Grey

Is Somerhalder’s sudden Fifty Shades black out a sign he’s out of the running? Well, a comment from “Watch What Happens Live” earlier in March could swing either way. When he was asked about Christian Grey, the actor answered: “listen, there are so many young boys in Hollywood that are up for this role. I think they have a very big job ahead of them casting this role. So, I can’t say anything other than it’s a very interesting story and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun, rehearsal time.”

This is a contrast to Somerhalder’s earlier enthusiasm. Somerhalder was even looking up how to equip his own dungeon, but as one fan noted “Ian does not seem quite as confident anymore.”

Stephen Amell, who is another possible contender, recently hinted that the Fifty Shades of Grey casting is underway, but there have been no official announcements. So, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Somerhalder is out of the game, but maybe the actor has either realised his chances are less or simply he’s got bored waiting around to become Christian Grey. Hopefully, we’ll get some certain news one way or another.

Although Ian Somerhalder and Alexis Bledel have been the fan favorites up to now, it looks like the British actors are taking the lead for Grey and Steele in the hearts of fans on social media. With the movie slated for release in 2014, we’re beginning to get excited about the casting of the movie.

While the hype of the novel is high, the topic isn’t so new, with the ten year old movie Secretary starring James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Nabokov’s Lolita and Anne Rice’s Beauty Trilogy, the darker side of sexuality and S&M has been an explored subject, however it’s never become so mainstream before. 

Like the themes in Fifty Shades of Grey, Emilia Clarke’s name in connection with the movie franchise is hardly new, but the actress has been gaining popularity more and more over the past few months, and fellow British actor Henry Cavill can also be categorized into the same box.

This week, a new girl is on the block and has suddenly come out of the blue. Model Poppy Delevingne is rumored to be in the front running as Anastasia Steele, and apparently, the casting directors are eyeing p the 26-year-old for the part of Ana in the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

“It’s had a huge impact on society. Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who’ve read the book are really getting into this, which is kind of great,” said Olsen, “It’s such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan. All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven’t had access to this kind of thing before. I was talking to a guy who was making a job about it, saying ‘Clearly these women just need Fifty Shades Romance.’ In a way, he’s right.”

The fundamental question is whether Elizabeth Olsen would say yes to the part of Anastasia Steele. She’s already said yes back in 2012, so it’s a possibility.

When outright asked whether she’d be interested in taking up the leading female role, Elizabeth Olson said, “Sure, if the script is any good.”

Once Olsen is back on the radar as Anastasia Steele, she’ll face some tough competition from other actresses including Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel, Twilight actress Ashley Greene and many more. The examiner makes a good case for Jensen Ackles as Christian Grey, but does he have what it takes to knock Ian Somerhalder off the top spot to grab the whip-wielding crowing spot of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of E.L. James’s famous books. A lot could still happen between now and the official casting, so perhaps Jensen could gain popularity, or maybe another unknown talent could steal the top spot for Christian Grey. Hopefully Universal will put all of us out of our miseries soon! 

U2’s Bono Daugther Eve Hewson up in the Running to Play Anastasia Steele

Meet the new dark haired beauty who could give Emilia Clarke and Alexis Bledel some stiff competition. Eve Hewson might be an actress who is under the radar, but you’ll know who her daddy is – U2’s Bono.

Ever since the rights for Fifty Shades of Grey have got picked up by Universal Studios and Focus Features, the whole world has been trying to find the ideal Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, and with a potential release date for summer 2014, things are getting crazy, although there is still a director that needs to be found.

In the contest for the girls, it’s a stiff battle between Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, who is currently the favorite in the lead, Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel, among other fan favorites like Nina Dobrev, Felicity Jones, Emma Watson and Lucy Hale. The favorite for the girls is in a constant state of flux, with new names being continuously added, with the latest coming from Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson.

Eve definitely has all the necessary physical qualities for Anastasia since she’s got big, beautiful blue eyes and dark hair. She’s also close in age to Anastasia, aged 22-years-old, which would make her a convincing choice to play the role of a  college girl.

Cavill might have started lower down the list, the Man of Steel star has been gaining in popularity bit by bit, and is even tipped by some to be the most likely of the big three, along with Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer to be cast.

Both Emilia and Cavill have a lot going for them, and many fans are beginning to take note. Both actors have received a lot of focus on social networking sites, and are becoming increasingly popular in fan made trailers.

It’s very easy to splice Henry Cavill into a Fifty Shades fan made trailer after a fragrance campaign he participated in a couple of years back that bears an uncanny resemblance to Christian Grey. While Clarke, has the innocent, big blue-eyed beauty that we come to expect from Anastasia Steele. Her role as platinum blonde Daenerys in Game of Thrones has shown us that Clarke is more than just a pretty face.

It’s going to be one of the hottest movies of the decade, so it’s understandable why a number of actors and actresses are desperate in getting cast. But it’s not just the unknown who want to delve into the world of the red room of pain, but better-known actors, even some A-listers.

The latest name to be thrown into the mix where casting is concerned is one that surprises us too – Matt Damon.

So far the project has had its fair share of big names. Angelina Jolie expressed an interest in Fifty Shades of Grey a while back, and many think she’d make a great Elena or perhaps she should use her directing skills to bring the raunchy movie to life. Ryan Gosling has been linked with Christian Grey since Universal Studios and Focus Features bought the rights, but his favor continues to fluctuate when set against Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and British actor Henry Cavill.

Alexis Bledel is probably the number one fan favorite to play Anastasia Steele in 50 shades of grey movie. When asked what she thought about playing in this role, she replied with.

“I really don’t know what to say about that,” she responded. But after being pressed more and asked if she would star in the movie she loosened up a bit.

“I have no idea,” confessed the actress, “You know, I really don’t know a lot about it, except that fans have made a trailer online. I know as much as you know. I’ve seen what you’ve seen, and I’ve probably had a similar reaction to yours.”

It looks like Alexis doesn’t want to reply neither here nor there to press questions.

But things have been rather manic for Alexis lately, especially with the release of Remember Sunday, a story about a lonely New Orleans waitress who meets a cute jewelry clerk, with whom she falls in love with, only to discover he has a brain aneurysm that wipes his short term memory every night. Not to mention in real life she’s getting married to Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser. 

Things to appear to be moving away from Alexis’s favor, since the latest rumor is that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has been cast as Anastasia Steele, but there may be no truth in the above rumor, and we’re still waiting for official confirmation. After the whole Emma Watson issue, we’ve learnt to be skeptical.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features are the teases of the Century. Now that we have a director for the Fifty Shades movies, we’re just sitting here, biting our nails in anticipation for any casting news, yet so far any forthcoming information has been nada.

Until now, we’ve only had our own guesses to fall back on, watching the fan favorites fluctuate on a daily basis along with the odds on which hot actor or actress will be cast in the role of Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele.

Gus Van Sant to Direct Fifty Shades of Grey Movie

While fans are busy discussing who’ll be cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, there is one crucial element of the movie that we all keep forgetting – the director.

Even the studios and E.L. James have said that casting will not take place until a director is found, so we’re pretty sure we’re not going to discover who’ll be playing Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele until this is resolved.

It’s a tasty position for any budding director, and while Fifty Shades of Grey may not be considered high culture, it is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the biggest movies of the decade.

One director who is seeking to add his name to the list is Gus Van Sant, who has made quite an unusual demonstration on his bid to become director.

As a joke, on April 14 at the MTV Movie Awards, Jonah Hill volunteered in the part of Christian Grey, to star alongside the 22-year-old Watson in what is deemed to be the hottest movie of the decade, and not just in its saucy content.

“I’m announcing officially that we’ll be starring in the screen adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey,” Jonah Hill said when he introduced Emma Watson who took the Trailblazer award, “My safety word is tangerine,” he continued, “If I say that word you have to stop doing stuff to me.”

So, despite the rumors that were released after the hackers anonymous published supposed internal documents on the internet from the German studio Constantin who are involved in the production of Fifty Shades of Grey, where they said that Watson was signed to the film. After Watson’s denial, it looks like no that Watson may have only been on the “studio wish list,” which would make more sense, since the actress definitely wasn't confirmed for the role.

At the moment, the studios are on the hunt for a director and it’s highly unlikely we’ll hear any further news on the movie until Universal Studios and Focus Features get their director. However, casting is drawing closer since the movie studios are aiming for a summer 2014 release, so we’re sure to hear something soon.            

Henry Cavill talks Fifty Shades of Grey Will he be Christian Grey?

He’s been one of the fan favorites ever since Universal Studios and Focus Features bought the rights to the Fifty Shades of Grey books, and things seem to still be looking positive for Henry Cavill where Christian Grey is concerned.

While he has a huge fan following, especially since the actor is about to rocket into stardom as Superman in the latest Man of Steel movie, the 30-year-old British stud hasn’t been approached by the movie’s producers as of yet.

“Put it this way, I’ve not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director,” Cavill had said during a press conference, “Not exactly chaste writing, is it. I’ve always preferred the implied  scene anyway, because having it spelled out always seems a bit tacky. Sex is so readily available to us in every form of media now, so it’s no longer that exciting on screen.”

Does that mean that he wouldn’t be interested in the project? We somehow believe that if the actor were approached with the role, he would most likely take it.

However, it looks like the speculation behind the casting is continuing, even though the movie is scheduled for release around this time next year. Ian Somerhalder hasn’t kept it a secret that he would love the role in Fifty Shades of Grey, while other favorite Stephen Amell has stated that he will not be playing Christian Grey.

So far any news on casting has been very quiet, and despite the rumors about the producers Dana Brunetti and Mike De Lucca meeting with Henry Cavill’s agency, it seems the former Tudors star hasn’t heard anything to suggest otherwise.

Cavill is hot property at the moment, so having his name attached to the movie would be a good move on Brunetti and De Lucca’s part, so we just have to wait and see if he’ll get cast or not.

To many fans, Henry Cavill is Christian Grey, with his classic good looks and charm. There is even a rumor that his fragrance campaign from a few years back inspired E.L. James’s creation of Christian Grey, where he took on the persona of a chic, elegant man with a helicopter and a beautiful brunette, with whom he got steamy with. Not to mention he inspired Edward Cullen for Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, which later would go onto inspire E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey.
